Language The symposium will be conducted in English

Scope RIAM (Research Institute for Applied Mechanics) is one of the inter-university "Joint-use Institutes" of Japan. This symposium, which was proposed by Prof. M. Kashiwagi of Osaka University, is one of joint-research activities supported by RIAM. The purpose of the symposium is to provide a chance to discuss in detail and exchange know-how on the research of fluid dynamic problems for marine renewable energy development and marine environment assessment. The size of this symposium is rather small and informal, and younger researchers are highly encouraged to participate. Due to application, the symposium can support the travel expenses for some of the speakers.

The main topics of concern in the symposium are such as:

  • Theoretical and numerical analysis of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problem and its marine renewable energy applications
  • Numerical method for marine environment assessment
  • Fundamental researches on offshore wind energy, offshore solar energy, wave energy, tidal energy, etc.
Application Please send a email which contains the following information to Prof. Hu (hu@riam.kyushu-u.ac.jp) by Dec. 4th 2011.

1) Title of your talk
2) Name of speaker and his/her affiliation and position
3) E-mail, Tel and Fax of the corresponding person
4) Do you need travel support?
5) Other request; e.g. hotel, the date of presentation
