Scope Ocean-based renewable energy is considered as a significant source to cover the electricity shortages in Japan where most of the nation's nuclear plants have gone offline now. A lot of relevant R&D programs are running in various groups. In this year a designated joint research program of RIAM has been launched with the subject (Fundamental Research on Marine Renewable Energy Development), and this symposium is an event of this program. The objective of this symposium is to provide a forum for the presentation of relevant research, developments and ideas on ocean renewable energy technologies.

The main topics of concern in the symposium are such as:

  • Offshore wind energy technologies
  • Offshore wave energy technologies
  • Offshore current energy technologies
  • Relevant fundamental researches
