Explore our ever-changing atmosphere from a global perspective through the eyes of satellites.

The Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences Laboratory investigates atmospheric variability and its underlying mechanisms by analyzing satellite observations and developing methods to retrieve atmospheric information from these measurements.

We are also developing new atmospheric measurement technologies. In collaboration with Profs.Yoshitake and Naragino at the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences, we are developing an ultraviolet measurement instrument using diamond sensors. We are also planning M2ARBLE, an environmental chamber designed to reproduce upper-atmospheric and planetary atmospheric conditions, and have submitted a proposal to SX-CRANE under the Space Strategy Fund.

In education, we lead Q-COSMIC, a human resource development program focused on future habitation on the Moon and Mars. By developing educational programs that connect diverse disciplines, we aim to prepare people to support life in space and shape the society of the future.
