- [Abstract]
- Dr. James Manwell is a professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts and the Director of the Wind Energy Center there. He had been involved with a wide range of wind energy research areas, from wind turbine dynamics to wind-hydro power systems, since 1970's. His most recent research has focused on the assessment of external conditions related to the design of offshore wind turbines. He has participated in the activities of the International Energy Agency, the International Electrotechnocal Commission and the International Science Panel on Renewable Energies. He will make a lecture on his 40 years of wide ranging of experiences in wind energy, present activities in offshore wind, and his perspectives for wind energy technologies.
